CineSnap

Introduction

The CLEAR (Comcast Leadership Engineering Achievements Relationships) Program provides opportunities for engineers to create and lead capstone projects while learning leadership, branding and presentation skills.

CineSnap was designed as a proposed feature for an Xfinity mobile app that allows a customer to take pictures and screenshots of content that they’d like to watch and save that content to their TVs so that they can watch it later.

We built the project iOS and used OpenAI to identify the TV show and movie titles from the images. We also made a series of calls to internal Comcast APIs to integrate with user data.

I worked on this project for 9 months with a fellow engineer as a my project partner. I created the early wire-framing, the architecture diagrams, and I lead the work with developing scripts for the OpenAI prompting. We both split work for the actual iOS development and putting together our final presentation.

End-to-End Demo

This video demonstrates the end to end process of finding a poster for a TV show you want to watch on the street, taking a photo with your phone, using CineSnap to find the title of the show using generative AI, saving the title to the list on your phone, and having the title loaded on your TV watchlist.

Project Goals

  • Increase customer interaction with the Playlist feature on the Entertainment OS of Comcast TV boxes.

  • Increase the amount of content viewed that originated from the Playlist feature.
